First Lady Doyle to Speak at 2009 African American High School Career Day in Madison

First Lady Jessica Doyle will speak at the 2009 African American High School Career Day on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Madison Area Technical College, MATC, in Madison. While there, Mrs. Doyle will address hundreds of high school students from area schools about the importance of planning for higher education now and share the messages of the Wisconsin Covenant. She will discuss the benefits of additional education after high school and the many job opportunities available to them by working hard and making a plan.

The Wisconsin Covenant is a promise to all high school students that if they work hard and make the grade, the state will assure that they have a place in a Wisconsin institution of higher education, and financial aid based on need. Students have an opportunity to sign the Wisconsin Covenant until September 30 of their ninth grade year. For more information, please visit http://wisconsincovenant.wi.gov/.
