MEDIA ADVISORY

First Lady Doyle to Discuss the Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle? Game in Milwaukee

Will also Encourage Students to Join the Read On Wisconsin! Book Club

First Lady Jessica Doyle will discuss the Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle? geography game on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Fifty-Third Street School in Milwaukee. While there, Mrs. Doyle will encourage students to participate in the weekly game and learn more about Wisconsin. This is the seventh year of the fun and educational geography game. Each week clues focusing on a mystery city’s history, geography, and culture are posted online.

At 11:10 a.m., the First Lady will travel to Samuel Clemens School to answer questions about Wisconsin and explain how students can be involved in the Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle? geography game. Clues are posted on Friday and students in fourth through eighth grades have until the following Thursday to submit an answer.  Winners are selected for the elementary and middle school level randomly each week during the school year from all correct entries submitted. More information can be found at http://wheresjessica.wi.gov.

At 12:00 p.m., Mrs. Doyle will visit the Bruce-Guadalupe School in Milwaukee. While there, Mrs. Doyle will speak with students about the benefits of reading and strong study habits.  Mrs. Doyle will also explain how students can be involved in her book club, Read On Wisconsin! Mrs. Doyle’s online book club is for students and educators across the state. Throughout the school year, Mrs. Doyle recommends books for five age groups each month.

Later at 1:30 p.m., Mrs. Doyle will meet with fourth grade students at Fratney School in Milwaukee. Mrs. Doyle will emphasize the importance of reading each day and explain some of the November book choices. Students have the opportunity to discuss the books on the website or participate in Reading Days during the school year at the Executive Residence. To learn more about Read On Wisconsin! or to join the club, visit http://readon.wi.gov.
